Here are mainly blogs for side-by-side comparisons of some similar maples throughout the year, as well as our findings during the photographing processes.
As probably some of you have experienced, I also have had difficulty to choose among similar maples. For me there are two reasons: One is limited cultivars available at local store and we only get to see them at one season. Two is that images and information on internet various regarding the same cultivar (which seems normal depending on nurseries).
So, I decided to invest in some smaller plants and observed them throughout the year. Again, the appearance may vary due to soil, sunlight, and camera setting. So, these are merely for reference.
Anyway, a picture is worth a thousand word. Below are my observations.
